When Relationships Need Care and Attention

People change, relationships shifted and so do the challenges that come with them.

Couples & Marital Counselling is not limited to times of conflict. The session supports individuals and partners at different stages of their relationship, from preparation and growth to repair and transition. It helps you and your loved one to understand shared patterns, expectations, communication styles, and goals, rather than placing blame or taking sides.

Our session is facilitated by Counsellor who provides a neutral, structured, and respectful space.

What to expect during couples counselling

Couples & Marital Counselling is a collaborative process.

The Counsellor works with both partners to help slow conversations down, clarify concerns, and support healthier communication. Sessions may involve guided discussion, reflection, and practical strategies that can be applied outside the therapy room.

Couples & Marriage Counselling is not about determining who is right or wrong. Instead, it focuses on helping both partners understand each other more clearly and move forward in a way that feels respectful and constructive.

Sliding scale fees are available. Please discuss with the therapist for more details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do both partners need to attend every couples counselling session? Can I come alone?

Couples counselling works best when both partners attend together, as the focus is on the relationship and how both individuals interact, communicate, and experience shared challenges. Having both partners present allows the Counsellor to support balanced conversations and mutual understanding.

If you prefer to attend alone, or if your partner is not ready to participate, Individual Therapy may be more suitable. It is also more affordable than Couples & Marital Counselling.

Yes. Couples counselling is not limited to married couples. Support is available for partners at different stages of a relationship, including dating, long-term partnerships, pre-marital preparation, and committed relationships of all kinds.

The focus is on the relationship itself, rather than marital status.

Disagreements and strong emotions are extremely common in couples counselling, and they are completely okay!

In fact, moments of conflict can offer valuable insight into communication patterns, emotional needs, and underlying concerns. The Counsellor will help slow the conversation down, ensure both partners feel heard, and guide the discussion in a safe and respectful way. Counselling is not about avoiding difficult topics, but about learning how to navigate them more constructively.

The number of sessions varies depending on the concerns and goals of each couple. Couples counselling is often short-term and focused.

For many couples in MINDAKAMI, support typically ranges from 1 to 6 sessions. Some couples attend a few sessions to work through specific concerns, while others may choose additional sessions if needed. Progress and next steps are reviewed collaboratively along the way, without pressure to continue longer than feels helpful.
